Two dead in one-vehicle rollover

SILT, Colorado – Two people died when a car drove off Interstate 70 and rolled several times Monday afternoon near Silt.

The Colorado State Patrol says a Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on I-70 when it traveled off the left side of the roadway at milepost 97 at about 2:51 p.m. The car went into the center median and rolled multiple times before coming to final rest in the center median facing south.

There were three male occupants in the vehicle, all of whom were ejected. No one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.

Two of the occupants died on scene. The third was transported to Valley View Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the occupants are being withheld until the families have been notified.

The crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
