Two killed in I-70 collision near Parachute
PARACHUTE ” A white Toyota MR2 two door was traveling eastbound on the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 when it struck a blue Honda four door that was traveling westbound on the westbound lane of I-70.
The vehicles collided in a head-on manner 7 miles west of Parachute.
Both vehicles rotated counter clockwise after impact and came to final rest
on their wheels on the roadway. The Toyota came to rest facing in a
westerly manner and the Honda came to rest in an easterly manner.
Both drivers are adult males and both were pronounced dead on the scene by
the Garfield County Coroner, and at this time have not been identified.
The interstate was reopened around 6:30 a.m.
At this time, it’s not known whether or not alcohol, drugs and speed were factors in the accident.
This incident is still under investigation.
