PARACHUTE, Colorado ” Garfield and Rio Blanco sheriff’s deputies located two missing oil and gas workers Friday afternoon north of Parachute after they didn’t return to their drilling location Christmas night.

Deputies found Robert A. Harvey and Jim Landrum about 1 p.m. Friday afternoon during a ground search on NTW Ranch Road near the Piceance Creek, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office. The two men spent the evening in a truck, said Tanny McGinnis, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

Both men were fine and neither man needed to be transported for medical care, she said.

McGinnis said the Garfield County Emergency Communications Center received a call about 9:20 p.m. that reported two men left a Nabors area drilling location about 5:30 p.m. Thursday and that they hadn’t returned. Deputies checked area hotels and bars and talked with the workers friends, but they did not turn up information about the men’s location, McGinnis said.

Rescuers delayed the search for the two men until about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning because of hazardous winter conditions.
