Two more Carbondale businesses were broken into early Monday morning, adding to the recent rash of burglaries at Roaring Fork Valley businesses of late.Carbondale Police believe the recent burglaries at Sounds Easy Video in the Sopris Shopping Center, and at Dos Gringos Burritos in La Fontana Plaza, to be related to the prior burglaries in Carbondale and Glenwood Springs over the last week.According to Police Chief Gene Schilling, while responding to the initial break-in at Sounds Easy early Monday morning, a Garfield County Sheriff’s deputy who was assisting also noticed that the nearby Dos Gringos had been hit as well. Upon investigation, the deputy observed two suspects on foot who fled to the field across Highway 133 toward Colorado Rocky Mountain School.”I think we’re getting pretty close to some real suspects,” Schilling said, “We’ve certainly got some pretty good people of interest.”While the investigation is ongoing, Carbondale police will continue to await outcomes of evidence sent to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and are continuing to cooperate with the Glenwood Springs Police Department and other area law enforcement. Schilling encourages local business owners and operators to refrain from leaving cash on site, suggesting that daily bank deposits be made.
