U.S. senator to visit city on Tuesday

U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., will hold a series of public forums on the Western Slope next week focusing on energy issues.

He’ll help open Valley View Hospital’s new addition at 2 p.m. Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting. At 3 p.m. he will speak about the federal energy bill and renewable energy at Holy Cross Energy, 3799 Highway 82, south of Glenwood Springs.

Salazar will begin his day in Grand Junction. After his visit to Glenwood Springs, Salazar will travel to Eagle and Frisco for public meetings. The focus of the meetings, according to a statement from his press office, is to invite comment on energy issues from his constituents. He will share his views on the impact of the recent passage of an energy bill and will outline steps he believes are necessary to reduce dependence on foreign oil and improve national security.
