Uncle Bob Mountain near Silt still closed because of snow
National Forest Road 801 near Uncle Bob Mountain south of Silt is still closed to motorized travel at the Clear Creek Bridge due to snow conditions, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
The area, about 12 miles south of Silt, is open to non-motorized travel.
“We urge the public to be patient and allow conditions to improve both for public safety and to prevent significant road damage,” Rifle District Ranger Sarah Hankins said in a press release.
In order to reduce damage to the travel way through BLM lands, motorized travel to the Forest boundary will remain closed.
Once the road surface improves, the gate at the bride will open, according to the release. However, the gate at the Forest boundary, three miles from the Clear Creek Bridge, will remain closed until May 22.
