The first meeting of Garfield New Energy Communities Initiative Advisory Board will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Garfield County Airport Operations Building, 375 County Road 352 in Rifle.
The advisory board will consist of representatives and alternates from nine partner entities that matched funds for the Governor’s New Energy Communities Initiative grant. The advisory board will make ongoing decisions to guide the implementation of the grant, which will fund a variety of clean energy programs and services throughout Garfield County and its municipalities focusing on the residential, commercial, transportation and local government sectors.

Komen for the Cure Aspen is partnering with MEDspa at Premier Care for “Charitable Pampering,” Dec. 17 and 18, which includes facials, silkpeel microdermabrasion, botox treatments, cosmetic fillers, photodynamic therapy, laser skin rejuvenation and hair removal, and massage. Twenty percent of all treatment proceeds will benefit Komen Aspen in its fight to end breast cancer forever. Gift cards are also available with 20 percent of the value also donated to Komen Aspen.

Sher Long, stakeholder relations coordinator for EnCana (Western Slope), will present EnCana’s plans for 2009 and potential impacts on local businesses from 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road in Glenwood Springs.

L’amour Early childhood Home Care is hosting a Holiday Open House from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at 1072 Wheel Drive in Carbondale.

The Ski Country Amateur Radio Club is having its annual pot luck holiday party at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, in Glenwood Springs. Ham radio operators and those interested in becoming a ham are welcome.

The Danse Arts Theatre Company will perform its annual Christmas show, “Dancing Into Christmas,” at the Glenwood Springs High School Theatre Dec. 20 and 21. A matinee at 2 p.m. will be offered both days, and a 7 p.m. performance on Dec. 20.
Tickets will be on sale beginning in early December at the Glenwood Dance Academy or at the door. The Sunday matinee on Dec. 21 is free of charge to all area nursing home, assisted living, and to Mountain Valley Developmental Services clients.
