Update: Rain causes debris flow in fire area

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. ” The heavy rain that swept through the area has caused some major slowdowns along westbound Interstate 70 and Highway 6 near the Canyon Creek exit.

According to Tanny McGinnis of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department, I-70 westbound was closed at Canyon Creek due to standing water and mudflow, a result of the New Castle Fire. I-70 reopened shortly before 7 p.m.
