Use words judiciously

Dear Editor,

This letter is in response to Colette Quattrone.

Colette, obviously we disagree about the wearing of a T-shirt that says “Get down on your ****** knees.” I respect your opinion, even though I vehemently oppose it. I do not deny the existence of rough language, pornography and many of the other seemingly lesser “evils” that we all seem to want to justify so much. And I would readily explain any of them to a child if put in the position of having to do so. I will end our debate on my part by addressing one more point. Our different views of the power of words. You say words are only symbols. Yes, they are symbols of how we think and feel and how we make others think and feel. As a result, we should use them judiciously.
