Vacancy declared on Garfield Re-2 School Board after resignation of former board president Britton Fletchall

The Garfield Re-2 School Board had their first meeting without former board president Britton Fletchall on Wednesday evening, where they read the resolution of his abrupt resignation.
“Be it resolved that the board of education of Garfield Re-2 School District accepts the resignation of Britton Fletchall from the board of education, effective June 20, 2025,” read board vice president Fathom Jensen. “Be it further resolved that, in accordance with state law, the board declares a vacancy in this school director’s office that will be filled by appointment by the board within 60 days.”
Anyone interested in joining the board of the Garfield Re-2 School District should send a letter to the board stating their interest to join and qualifications by Aug. 4. Interviews will be conducted in a public meeting on Aug. 13.
Eligible candidates must live within the Re-2 school district and be a registered elector of the district. This appointee will serve until the next regular bi-annual elections in November this year, where the spot will then be voted on. This vacancy is for the District A Director seat.
Restructuring of the board members will also come at election time in November and the remaining board members will keep their positions, with Cassie Haskell as Director of District B and the board secretary, Chance Jenkins as Director of District D and board treasurer, board member Scott Bolitho and Jensen as Director of District C and vice president of the board. Jensen will be leading the meetings in place of Fletchall.
