Vail Pass bike path to open today

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – At 8 a.m. today, the Colorado Department of Transportation will open the Vail Pass bike path in Eagle and Summit counties. While closed during the winter months due to snowpack and avalanche risks in the area, the path has been cleared by crews and is ready for summer.

Later this spring and summer, the path will undergo repairs and improvements in two different areas, which may necessitate last-minute closures. On the east side of Vail Pass there will be repairs on two bridges that were damaged this past winter, and the west side of the pass will be resurfaced from mile marker 182 to 191. The resurfacing project is not yet under contract.
