Vallario edges Winters in close GOP sheriff’s primary
GLENWOOD SPRINGS – Lou Vallario earned a narrow victory over Doug Winters in a close Republican primary for Garfield County Sheriff.
Vallario, the incumbent two-term sheriff, received 2,308 votes to 2,230 for Winters, an Eagle County Sheriff’s Detective that lives in Rifle.
Vallario now moves on the face Tom Dalessandri, a Carbondale Democrat who served as Garfield County sheriff from 1994-2002.
Vallario defeated Dalessandri in 2002.
