Valley View should hire locals for expansion

Eric Workman

Dear Editor,

It is indeed heartening, as your lead article (Wednesday, Sept. 25) states, to see such clear evidence of the community’s strong support for its local hospital.

One would logically assume that the hospital would wish to reciprocate and be equally supportive of its community. An obvious way to do so would have been to select among the many highly competent and qualified local engineers, architects, and general contractors when contracting for this work.

It seems, however, that this is not what has occurred. According to the information I have received, out-of-state firms have been hired to perform all of this work.

I am curious as to why this is the case.
