Vanira Thresa "Terry" Keeper

Vanira Thresa Terry Keeper, 87, died Sept. 8, 2007, in Newport, Ore. She had lived in Toledo, Ore., and was formerly of Grand Junction.Vanira was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Elm, N.J., to Edna Mae (Bishop) and Francis Robert Jones. She graduated in 1938 from Haddonfield Memorial High School in Haddonfield, N.J. She married George Franklin Keeper Sr. on Nov. 15, 1941, in Williamstown, N.J. George was a U.S. Air Force pilot, and they moved from New Jersey to Bryan, Texas; and then to Clovis, N.M.; later retiring to Grand Junction, where they lived together for 30 years and they raised five children.Vanira and George worked with Brownies, Girl Scouts, Little League baseball, and school sports. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lutheran Church.She is survived by daughters Terry Lynn (Chuck) Ritz of Toledo, Ore., Nancy L. (Mike) Stevens of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Linda J. (Gary) Ivie of Grand Junction, and Barbara K. (Jeff) Bullock of Grand Junction; son George F. “Jeff” (Louise) Keeper Jr. of Rifle; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband; and grandson Travis Eugene Ivie.A memorial will be held at a later date in Grand Junction.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Memorial Cemetery (VMC) of Western Colorado, 2831 D Road, Grand Junction, CO 81501.Services entrusted into the care of Affordable Burial & Cremation Co. of Newport, Ore.
