Velda R. Flinn

Velda R. Flinn, 92, died peacefully Friday, Aug. 11, at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle.Velda was born in Kinsley, Kan., on April 5, 1914. She was raised on a farm with two younger brothers and one younger sister. The family moved to Colorado Springs, where, after attending Greeley College on an art scholarship, Velda married her high school mate, David Flinn. The couple then moved on to San Diego where Velda’s adventure began as a Navy wife starting a family.Velda is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Patricia (Archi) Winters, of Glenwood Springs; granddaughters, Marin and Andrea; daughter, Nancy Flinn (Don) Srull of McLean, Va.; grandchildren, Alison, Mark and Jennifer; and niece, Sharon Stanbro of Holualoa, Hawaii.Velda was multitalented, especially in music and art. She was a member of the Glenwood Springs Art Guild, Glenwood Garden Club, and the United Methodist Church. She and her husband were active in senior citizen activities in Glenwood Springs.She touched many lives, and her life was touched by many friends and associates. She would want to say love and goodbye to all.There will be no services but Velda will be honored at the Fall Art Festival on Sept. 20-24 at the Ramada Inn in Glenwood Springs.Contributions in memory of Velda Flinn can be made to the Glenwood Springs Art Guild Scholarship Fund, P.O.
