Vernon Douglas Martin, 64, of Glenwood Springs, passed away Oct. 22, 2007.He was born March 4, 1943, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Vernon R. and Alice (Corfeild) Martin. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the BPOE #2286 in Glenwood Springs.He was the owner and operator of Glenco Electric and has been a valley resident for over 40 years. Doug’s hobbies included aviation, the outdoors and traveling.He will be missed by many. He is survived by daughters Nancy (Gary) Compton of Boise, Idaho, and Jacquelyn Martin of Grand Junction; grandchildren Rachel Compton, Erica (Mike) Putnam, and Brian Martin; great-grandsons Loclyn and Ryland Putnam; sister Sharon (Ed) Smith of Eagle; nieces Heather, Erin and family; soulmate of 16.5 years Berta Klein; and many other friends and family. Doug was preceded in death by son Brian Douglas Martin.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 26, at Farnum Holt Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosebud Cemetery.The family asks memorial be sent to BPOE #2286, 51939 US Highway 6, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
