Veterans Day events through Monday

There are a variety of events scheduled to mark Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11. Here’s a rundown.-A special ceremony to honor American veterans will be held in Basalt at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Fairview Cemetery. The ceremony will include a roll call of the 37 deceased veterans at the cemetery, and placement of American flags on their graves.-Carbondale Middle School presents a musical tribute honoring all veterans who served our country at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the CMS gym. All veterans invited as well as the public.-Rifle High School invites the entire community to attend a Veterans Day Assembly to honor all our veterans at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at RHS. A luncheon will immediately follow the assembly for veterans and their guests. There will also be a Veterans Day Concert at 7 p.m. in the Rifle High School Gym. The RHS band and choir will be performing several American favorites.-Carbondale Elementary School will be presenting its annual Tribute to Veterans program from 1:20-2:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the school gym. All veterans, parents and community members are welcome. For more information on the program, call Bonnie Fischer at 384-5688 or Kirstin Johns, music teacher, at 384-5689.-Sopris Elementary School, Glenwood Springs will honor vets at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.-Riverside School in New Castle will celebrate Veterans Day at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
