Veterans invited to submit their comments on military service

Veterans who are now living in Garfield County, or have lived here in the past, are invited to contribute their thoughts on military service with readers of the Post Independent.

Veterans’ comments and photographs will be published in the Sunday, Nov. 11, edition in celebration of Veterans Day.

“We want to honor the veterans in our community by giving them an opportunity to share the life lessons learned from their military service,” said Stephanie Schafer, Post Independent publisher.

Veterans can submit comments any of three ways:

• Online: Visit the paper’s website at http://www.postindependent.com. Scroll down to the “features” box at the center of the page, and click on the “Calling all Veterans” link. Or go directly to the online questionnaire at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/garfield-veterans .

• By email: Request the questionnaire by sending an email to news@postindependent. com. Fill out the information in a return email.

• By phone and mail: Request a printed copy of the questionnaire by phone. Call Melissa at 384-9101. We’ll send it by mail. Veterans can fill out the form and return it by mail.

The deadline for comments is 11 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5.

The questionnaire asks veterans to supply background information about themselves and their military service, and provides the opportunity to answer two questions, up to 100 words each answer.

The questions for veterans are:

• What is the most important lesson learned in your military service?

• How does your military service inform your life today?

“We encourage all local veterans to take a few minutes to fill out the questionnaire and share their wisdom with our readers,” Schafer said.
