Virginia Harp

Virginia Harp of Brighton died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at her home. She was 91.

She was born Nov. 14, 1910, in Meeker to Emmert and Florence Van Cleave. She spent her childhood in Meeker and graduated from Rio Blanco High School in 1928.

She married William M. Elliott on Feb. 17, 1932, and the couple moved to Rifle. They had two daughters. Mr. Elliott died in 1949.



She married Harry H. Harp in 1958 and moved back to Meeker.

Mrs. Harp was devoted to her family and friends. She loved nature and enjoyed gardening and flowers.



Mrs. Harp was preceded in death by husbands William M. Elliott and Harry H. Harp; by a daughter, Anita Jeanne Ridgeway; by a brother, Donald R. Van Cleave; by sisters Bernice V. Sides and Beryl V. Richards; by stepson Bern Hampton “Ike” Harp; and by stepdaughter Phyllis Miller.

She is survived by daughter Marilyn Schooley of Thornton; by grandsons Mark Ridgeway and Brian Schooley, both of the Denver area; by great-granddaughter Kayleigh Schooley; by a sister, Edna Stovall of Rifle; by a brother, Reuben Van Cleave of Missouri; by stepsons Harry “Bud” Harp and Bill Harp, both of Meeker; and by stepdaughter Dorothy Jo Larsen of Arizona.

No services are planned.
