Vivian Witt

Vivian Witt of Battlement Mesa died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Grand Valley Hospital in Rifle. She was 94.

She was born Sept. 18, 1908, in Guthrie, Okla., to Nellie Hobbs and Frank Ulrich. She grew up in Oceola, Mo., and Denver.

She married Monroe Witt in 1932. He preceded her in death in October 1975, after 43 years of marriage.



Mrs. Witt was a farmer’s wife in the San Luis Valley for 15 years. Then the couple moved to Montrose, where they owned a motel for 10 years. She moved to Battlement Mesa in 1988.

She loved her family and they loved her.



Mrs. Witt is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Gladys Witt of Battlement Mesa; by granddaughter and grandson-in-law Cheri and Terry Brown of Battlement Mesa; by grandsons and granddaughters-in-law Jerre and Jenny Witt of Battlement Mesa and Steve and Celia Witt of Fort Worth, Texas; and by great-grandchildren Tiffany, Derek, Kaitlyn, David and Kendall, all of Battlement Mesa.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, at Mesa Vista Assisted Living, 72 E. Sipprelle Drive, Battlement Mesa.
