Volunteers sought for Glenwood Springs boards and commissions

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – The city of Glenwood Springs is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on several city boards and commissions. The deadline to apply is this Friday.

Appointments will be made by City Council to the following positions for the terms indicated:

• Airport Board – Four regular seats, with terms to expire February 2014.



• Alcohol Beverage Hearing Board – One regular seat with a term to expire February 2013; and one regular seat and two alternate seats with terms to expire February 2014.

• Building Board of Appeals – Two regular (engineer and contractor) seats with terms to expire February 2014.



• Financial Advisory Board – One regular seat and an alternate seat with terms to expire February 2014.

• Volunteer Firefighter Pension Board – One seat with a term to expire February 2014.

• Historic Preservation Commission – Four regular seats with terms to expire February 2014.

• Housing Commission – One regular seat with a term to expire February 2013; and three regular seats and an alternate seat with terms to expire February 2014.

• Parks and Recreation Commission – Two regular seats and an alternate seat with terms to expire February 2014.

• Planning and Zoning Commission – Three regular seats with terms to expire February 2014.

• River Commission – Two regular seats with terms to expire February 2014.

• Transportation Commission – Three regular seats with terms to expire February 2014; and an alternate seat with a term to expire February 2013.

• Tourism Promotion Board – Two seats representing tourism and one seat representing resident with terms to expire February 2014.

• Victim’s and Witnesses Assistance and Law Enforcement Board (VALE) – Three regular seats with terms to expire February 2014.

The powers and duties for each of the boards and commissions are included on the applications, which can be found on the city’s website at http://www.cogs.us/ boards/applications.htm.

Applications can also be obtained in the City Clerk’s Office at Glenwood Springs City Hall, 101 W. Eighth St., third floor, or by downloading the application from the city website.

Applications should be submitted to the City Clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28.
