Von Schmidt’s work graces Glenwood

Eric Von Schmidt was born to be an artist.He was born in Detroit, Mich. to a family of artists dating way back to his paternal great-grandfather. Von Schmidt’s maternal grandfather was a photographer who lived and worked in California’s Yosemite Valley with photographer Ansel Adams. Von Schmidt went on to study at the Detroit Center for Creative Studies, Art & Design and an art center in Pasadena, Calif. He majored in illustration and was soon rendering the interior of rides and shows for EPCOT Center and Tokyo Disneyland. In the past 20 years Von Schmidt has designed the interiors for two airplanes for the king of Saudi Arabia, and directed the development of Universal Films’ 75th anniversary logo. Von Schmidt has worked all over the art industry for clients as diverse as ABC, Stephen King, and Mall of America.
