Wal-Mart groundbreaking set
A groundbreaking ceremony for Rifle Commons shopping center, which includes a 155,000-square-foot Wal-Mart super store, is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The 49-acre Rifle Commons is located in Rifle on Airport Road, near the southeast corner of the intersection of Interstate 70 and Taughenbaugh Blvd.
Wal-Mart is the only business to announce plans to build at Rifle Commons.
Wal-Mart officials have said construction on the store could be complete in September, and the store could open in October. Beside the regular lineup of Wal-Mart goods, the store will sell groceries and tires, and operate a one-hour photo lab, vision center, pharmacy, automotive lubrication service center and garden center.
The entire Rifle Commons, including Wal-Mart, will cover 338,579 square feet. Rifle Commons is being developed by Ohio-based businessmen David Glimcher and Larry Ruben.
