Wallace G. Thatcher

Wallace G. Thatcher of Gypsum passed away Monday, Nov. 22, at Glenvalley Care Center in Glenwood Springs. He was 81. A memorial service in his honor will take place at a later date.Wallace was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Normal, Ill., the son of John William and Nellie Pearl (Zabel) Thatcher. He married Patsy A. Newberry on May 19, 1947. Wallace was a member of Masonic Lodge 32 degree (masons) in Kokomo, Colo. and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Climax, Colo. He was a purchasing agent for Vail Associates and resided in Denver and Gypsum.Wallace and his three brothers were all in World War II together. He enjoyed all outdoor activities and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and camping. He had a beautiful yard and garden, had a great sense of humor, and was a musician, playing all instruments by ear. Wallace and Patsy were married for 57 years and he loved his family and grandkids.He is survived by his wife; son Thomas W. Thatcher; daughter Carol Ann Thatcher; brothers William C. Thatcher and John F. Thatcher; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home, 405 W. Seventh St., Glenwood Springs, 945-5815, is in charge of arrangements.
