Water to be shut off in east Rifle

RIFLE – About 40 homes on the east side of town will be without water today, Jan. 18, while the city water department makes repairs on a fire hydrant.Residents from Fifth Street and Munroe Avenue, Clarkson to East Avenue and Whiteriver to Seventh Avenue will likely have their water turned off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Orange flyers were placed on the doorknobs of homes on Tuesday, informing residents of the impending shutoff.”We’re hoping that it may be on sooner than that,” said Mark Carani, supervisor of the water department.Carani suggested that residents use a bucket of water to flush the toilet, which would not interfere with the water shutoff. For more information or questions, call 625-6223, 625-2841 or 618-5499.
