Wayne and Wingnut at the library

Ventriloquist Wayne Francis and his pal Wingnut will lead off the Garfield County libraries’ summer reading program this week.

Francis is a popular entertainer who’s previously appeared at the county’s summer reading programs. He brings music, scenery, props and costumes to wow the kids. Kids will get to participate in this free show and it’s open to all ages.

Wayne and Wingnut will appear on Tuesday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Carbondale Town Hall and at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Glenwood library basement; on Wednesday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the New Castle Community Center and 2 p.m. at Bea Underwood Elementary School in Battlement Mesa and on Thursday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Silt Community Center and 2 p.m. at Rifle City Hall.

In addition to the weekly entertainment, kids can participate in the reading program. If they reach the goal of reading for a specific time period they win a prize.

Funding for the program is provided by the Aspen Valley Community Foundation, local city governments and Friends of the Library groups in the county.
