Wayne G. Stanton

Wayne G. Stanton, 69, of Parachute, passed away peacefully in his home on July 17, 2008.

Wayne was born July 29, 1938, in Grand Valley (Parachute), to Daniel and Olive (Cline) Stanton. He served four years in the Army before marrying the love of his life, Kelli, in Las Vegas on June 11, 1986. Wayne was a lifelong resident of the valley. He belonged to the Grand Valley Christian Church; his faith in God was bone deep.

Wayne would and did “give the shirt off his back” to anyone in need. He was meticulous in running his lawn care business, resorting to scissors to get that one blade of grass “just right.” He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father and sons Wayne Jay and Trenton.

He is survived by his mother; his wife; mother-in-law Mary Kelley; daughter Kimberly Cronin; sisters Terry Barnhill, Verna Reed and Vera Madden; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing is planned from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, at the Grand Valley Christian Church in Parachute. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with interment immediately following at the Russey-Hurlbert Cemetery. Pastor Lois Smith will officiate. Rifle Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Grand Valley Christian Church Restoration Fund, PO Box 190, Parachute, CO 81635.
