All six branches of the Garfield County Public Library District will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25, in celebration of Christmas. Normal library hours will resume on Sunday, Dec. 26, as the Glenwood Springs and Rifle Branch Libraries will open at 1 p.m. Then, all six libraries will open at 10 a.m on Monday, Dec. 27.

The Glenwood Vaudeville Revue has been receiving rave reviews for its new, creative and hilarious holiday show.Having opened Nov. 26, it will continue every Thursday through Sunday with added shows Dec. 26, 27, 29, and 30, and two special shows on New Year’s Eve at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $16 for kids, with new menu items and a full bar. For the month of December all cats and kittens are available for adoption for $5 to $75. Bring a furry friend home in time for the holidays.Holiday art show in New CastleLocal watercolor artist Carmel Walden’s work is on display during the month of December at Patti’s Main St. Coffee House in New Castle.

The featured artist at Alpine Bank in New Castle through December is Lynne DeNio. Her works are in oil and acrylic.



Pitkin County Open Space and Trails has a suggestion for a holiday gift that will last forever: Be a part of history and contribute to the purchase of Droste Mtn. Park between Aspen and Snowmass. This new public Open Space property preserves critical wildlife habitat and creates recreational opportunities for all! With funding from the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails program, Great Outdoors Colorado, the City of Aspen, Town of Snowmass Village and support from the Aspen Valley Land Trust 91 percent of the purchase price has already been raised. We need your help to raise the remaining 9 percent. Contributions of any size are welcome at http://www.avlt.org/droste.

We’re in the historic 1904 Rio Grande train station on 7th Street and the trains are running, inside and outside. Toy trains, big trains (Amtrak, Union Pacific, BNSF), large collection of historic photos and artifacts, nifty gift shop: open Friday – Monday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Adult admission $1, 12 and under free.
