Saturday, Jan. 8 King Hippo



Jack Green and Bob Willey are presenting an evening of original short plays, monologues and stories. Every piece is designed for a night of comedy and laughter. Come on down and enjoy a journey of lightheartedness. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Round Room at the Third Street Center in Carbondale on Saturday, Jan. 8. Tickets are $12 and the dress rehearsal Thursday night is free.

There will be a women’s self defense workshop on Jan. 8 and 9 at the Hotel Colorado, from 9 a.m. to noon or from noon to 3 p.m. each day. Instructor is Pamela Whittington, with Brian Mable Karate. For reservations call 379-1881.



Dressage clinics with world champion Healthy Horse Boutique and Cedar Ridge Farm will be hosting dressage clinics with World Champion Kathleen Raine on Saturday, Jan. 8, and Sunday, Jan. 9. Spectators are welcome to audit the clinics at Aspen Equestrian Estates located at 22 Corral Drive in Carbondale between 9:15 and 11:30 a.m. or at Cedar Ridge Farm located at 3059 County Road 103 in Carbondale from noon until 4:45 p.m. Please bring chairs and blankets for your comfort. Lunch is available at Cedar Ridge Farm from 12:45-1:30 p.m. for $10. Kathleen Raine helped the USET win the team Bronze Medal for the Dressage World Championship at the 1994 World Equestrian Games in Holland. In addition she finished sixth overall at the Dressage World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden. Raine has added many impressive wins to her career on U.S. soil including the Grand Prix at Dressage at Indio. She lives and competes with her husband, David Wightman, in Temecula, Calif. Starting Sunday, Jan. 9, the Crystal River Baptist Church will have a revival at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. The event will also be going on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night, Jan. 10-12, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend, and nursery will be provided free of charge for young children. The church is located in Carbondale, 2632 Highway 133. If you have any questions, please call the church office, 963-3694.
