Wendell Lupton Wood

Wendall Wood died Dec. 13, 2007, peacefully at his Denver home. He was born July 30, 1913, and raised on a Kansas farm.He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the onset of World War II. He honorably served aboard the USS Lycoming in the South Pacific.After the war, he moved to Glenwood Springs and started Lincicome Wood Motor Co., a successful car dealership, with his brother-in-law. Moving his family to Denver in 1958 he resumed his passion for real estate, and was recognized in 1962 as one of the top 10 residential Realtors in the country. He continued working, never fully retiring until age 91. Wendell’s sincere heart endeared him to all. He loved well, and was well loved. His wonderful legacy will continue through all the people he loved.He is survived by sons Roger Wood of Silverdale, Wash., and Carson Wood of Grand Junction; daughter Penny Watson of Denver; five grandchildren; and 7 3/4 great-grandchildren.Wendell was preceded in death by his first wife, Oletha, and his second wife of 61 years, Jeanne.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to C.S.A., P.O. Box 7, Lakemont, GA 30552-9989. A remembrance celebration will be announced in January.
