Westbound I-70 closed at Vail Pass

VAIL ” The west lanes of Interstate 70 are closed near East Vail after a tanker truck rolled and spilled gasoline, authorities said.

At Copper Mountain, westbound traffic is being diverted to Highway 91 south to Leadville and then north on Highway 24 back to I-70, authorities said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, said Jamie Wilson, spokeswoman for Vail.

Wilson did not know yet whether the driver was injured or when the west lanes would reopen, she said.

No gasoline has spilled into Gore Creek, she said.
