Westbound I-70 reopened near Rifle after vehicle fire

Both lanes of westbound Interstate 70 are now open following a vehicle fire that touched off a fire along the shoulder four miles east of Rifle Wednesday afternoon, Colorado Department of Transportation reports.

Colorado River Fire Rescue has been on the scene. During the initial closure, westbound traffic being diverted onto the Rifle-Garfield County Airport frontage road at the Mamm Creek exit, according to a CDOT spokesperson.
