WestTerra to negotiate property sale for GSHS

Ryan Graff

The Roaring Fork RE-1 School District board approved WestTerra Wednesday to negotiate the sale of property the district will buy to expand Glenwood Springs High School. WestTerra will appraise the value of property and act as a liaison between the district and the businesses selling property. WestTerra’s Kathy Tully specializes in site acquisition for government agencies, and will begin work immediately, said school board chairperson Susan Hakonson. In addition to negotiating the sale, WestTerra also will appraise the value of property now used or owned by True Value, Glenwood Gymnastics Academy and the Defiance Thrift Store. The board also received a short-list of architects for $86 million worth of construction projects from the district’s Bond Oversight Committee. The board will interview the seven finalists Friday. The firms include: DPA Architectural Group of Glenwood Springs; RTA Architects Inc. of Colorado Springs; H&L Architecture out of Denver, which designed Basalt High School; Bennett Wagner & Grody out of Denver, which designed Aspen High School; Lance-Boggio Architects out of Denver; and Leo A Daly Architecture of Omaha, Neb. The district and its architectural consulting firm had expected to pick a short-list from about 12 applications. In the end the committee had to choose from 21.
