What is the meaning of `freedom’?

David Krest

Dear Editor,

This morning literally every radio station was focused on 9.11.01 while George W. Bush was giving his interpretation of freedom while instilling his justification for destroying more land and people in Iraq by the use of fear of a man known as Saddam.

It is obvious that our media is controlled by not we the people but by the few.

Afghanistan is all but forgotten, and yet there are those being killed at this very moment under the guise of freedom.

What truly is the meaning of freedom in the eyes of our so-called leaders? Is it the right to exploit others at will who do not do and think as the leaders of the United States deem right?

What is patriotism other than the right to voice and act out what the constitution of the United States of America supports as our freedom to be free? And knowing freedom does not occur at the expense of others’ freedom.
