The Carbondale Clay Center, 135 Main Street, will host a slide lecture by Doug Casebeer at 7p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13. Doug has been a potter for over 20 years and directs the ceramics program at the Anderson Ranch Center for the Arts. Casebeer will show slides of his artwork and world travels and talk about the development of his career in ceramics. Call the Carbondale Clay Center at 963-CLAY (2529) for more information.

Big Idea Day at Glenwood Springs High School from 8:25 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. to Wednesday, Feb. 12. “It’s My Life,” focusing on people who have made a difference in others’ lives. Speakers include media expert David Barsamian and Susan Krabacher of the Mercy and Sharing Foundation.

Childhood educator Helle Hackman will speak on “Respect for the Journey of the Child,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork community hall, 16543 Highway 82, Carbondale.
