The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts introduces the Choreography & Repertoire Project within its dance program to introduce serious and advanced dance students to a professional experience of the rehearsal and performance process. The course begins Saturday, Sept. 14, with auditions from noon till 2 p.m. The 32-week program meets Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $25 a month. Each year the purchase patrons are the first to view the show and make their selections for purchase. The Art Guild will host an exclusive purchase patron evening Sept. 24 to meet the artists and feast on hors d’oeuvres. Proceeds from the festival support deserving high school graduates and help provide art materials to local schools. Patrons must purchase one piece of art for $50 or more. Ride the Roaring Fork Railroad on a rail “speeder” Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8. The two-hour trips from Glenwood Springs to Carbondale run at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. and start at O’Leary Park, west of Glenwood Springs High School football field. Suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The rides are a fund-raiser for the Western Colorado Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. There will be poker rides, bike skill events, a bike show, light show, vendors and seminars. A free one-day pass will be given to Garfield, Pitkin and Eagle County residents.
