Whole families attend Coal Ridge meeting

The Coal Ridge High School informational meeting Monday at Rifle Middle School was well-attended, according to Jeanie Humble, principal of the under-construction school.”It was great,” she said. “We were surprised – people brought their whole families.”Though the meeting didn’t last more than an hour, Humble said she thought administration was able to answer a lot of questions.”It’s clear people really care and want to make the right decisions for their kids,” Humble said. The main concerns included athletics and transportation for open enrollment students or students going to the high school outside of their attendance area.”With transportation,” Humble said, “we will do our best. We’ll try to help people out the first two years as long as we have buses going both directions anyway.”She said the district does not know yet which coaches will work at which school.Students and parents were asked to indicate their attendance preference and list any athletic interests if they choose to go to Coal Ridge.
