GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. – Glenwood’s Strawberry Days festival kicks off its 110th year on Friday, June 15, and runs through Sunday, June 17.This year’s “western retro” celebration will feature a lot of old favorites and a few things not to miss, according to event organizers.Saturday, the festival hosts its inaugural classic car show, with 60 to 65 cars heading off the parade down Grand Avenue. This year’s carnival should be “bigger and better than ever,” according to Krista Kaufman of the Glenwood Chamber of Commerce. The carnival will take place at the American Furniture Warehouse parking lot instead of the Glenwood Springs High School. And twice the space means a lot more rides and things to do, Kaufman said.

Sayre Park will again accommodate about 165 vendors and artisans, ranging in craft from leather to photography. At the Kids Fest Tent, illusionist Chad Juros performs Saturday and Sunday. Kaufman said Juro’s tricks are “pretty amazing.” He is a leukemia survivor who credits magic for pulling him through treatment.Handsome Little Devils, a vaudeville and swing-dancing troupe, will also take on the kids stage both Saturday and Sunday, entertaining with juggling and other antics. The Devils will teach a half-hour of swing-dancing lessons before headliners Halden Wofford & the Hi Beams take the main stage Friday at 7 p.m.Kaufman describes Halden Wofford & the Hi Beams as “true honky-tonk swing country with retro flair,” and as “one of the best bluegrass players I’ve ever seen.”Sayre Park will be hopping with live music, food and entertainment all three days.

“The parade is a never-miss,” Kaufman said. “Definitely check out the headliner bands at the main stage, and the carnival is always a highlight.”Strawberry Days is Colorado’s longest running civic festival.
