Wildlife commissioners hosting public meetings

CARBONDALE, Colorado ” Two local Colorado wildlife commissioners, Dorothea Farris of Carbondale and Roy McAnally of Craig, are planning a public meeting at Carbondale Town Hall, located at 511 Colorado Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 18. The meeting will be from 6:30-9 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to get input on wildlife issues from locals. The Colorado Wildlife Commission is an 11-member board appointed by governor. The commission sets Colorado Division of Wildlife regulations and policies for hunting, fishing, watchable wildlife, and nongame, threatened and endangered species.

Commissioners also oversee DOW land purchases and property regulations.

Wildlife commissioners are typically available to discuss issues with residents anytime, and they often hold more formal meetings around the regions they represent. These meetings give the commissioners the opportunity to visit with constituents about a wide range of wildlife topics.

Meetings do not have set agendas, but typically include time for a brief opening statement from the commissioners and then questions or comments from the public. DOW staff members will be on hand, as well, to help answer questions or to provide additional information.
