William "Bill" J. Young Jr.
William “Bill” J. Young Jr. of Rifle died on Tuesday, April 24, 2002. He was 81.
He was born March 28, 1921, in Rockport, Mo., to Sylvia and William Jewell Young Sr. He grew up in Rockport.
He married Dorothy V. Thomas on June 10, 1939, in Rockport.
Mr. Young served in the Navy during World War II.
The Young family moved to Rifle in 1977.
He was a builder and a rancher. In his senior years, he worked with the Colorado State Forest Service senior program.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Young of Rifle; by a daughter, Roberta Eckart of Denver; by a son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Ruth Young of Carbondale; by a sister and brother-in-law, Luthella and George Quillen of Wisconsin; by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; by numerous nieces and nephews; and by many friends.
Please join the Youngs in celebrating Mr. Young’s life at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Rifle Senior Center, 50 Ute Ave. in Rifle.
