William G. Bill Blakeslee

William G. Bill Blakeslee, 85, of Grand Junction, passed away May 21, 2008, at the VA Hospital.Bill was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Imperial, Neb. He spent his childhood in Imperial and Wallace, Kan., before moving to Collbran, where he graduated from high school. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He went on to work for Rio Grande Motorway as a truck driver.Bill married Avon Grace Lorimor Sept. 12, 1940. He was a member of numerous organizations, including the Mesa County Sheriffs Posse, Search & Rescue, Smoke Skippers Snowmobile Club and square dancing clubs. He also enjoyed the rodeo. He had been a resident of Grand Junction for 60 years. Survivors include his wife; sons William R. Bill Blakeslee of Basalt, and Terry L. (Sherri) Blakeslee of Casper, Wyo.; sister Betty Walck of Grand Junction; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and four grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mesa County Sheriffs Posse, P.O. Box 1386, Grand Junction, CO 81502.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction. He will be interred at a later date.
