William Martin Morgan
William “Bill” Martin Morgan, 81, passed away April 22, 2009, peacefully at his home in New Castle.
Bill was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Madison, Mo., to Samuel and Mable Morgan.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After returning from his tour of duty, he married Phelma H. Smithey. They had six children.
Bill worked as construction supervisor for Pascal Construction in Denver until 1970, when he moved his family to Rifle. He continued in the construction industry until his retirement in 1986.
Bill is survived by his loving wife; sister Lucille Moore; children Stellamae Fredricks of Illinois, Gwen (Jim) Bourke of Virginia, Dolores Walter of Battlement Mesa, Billie Jo (Bob) Jordan of New Mexico and Martin (Sharon) Morgan of Silt; daughter-in-law Vickie Morgan; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Frank.
A viewing is scheduled from 8-9 a.m. Monday, April 27, at the Rifle Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. April 27 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction. A reception at Apple Tree Park Community Building will be held following the burial.
