William Maynard "Andy" Anderson

William Maynard “Andy” Anderson of Novice, Texas, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Abilene Regional Medical Center. He was 72.

He was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Coleman, Texas, to Elsie Todd and Kay Anderson. He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1948.

He earned an associate’s degree from New Mexico State University.

Mr. Anderson served in the U.S. Marines for 14 years, including three years in Korea.

He worked as a potash miner.

Mr. Anderson is a former resident of New Castle. He moved to Novice, Texas, in 2001.

He is survived by sons David Wayne Anderson of Rifle, Daniel Kay Anderson of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Dick A. Anderson of Carlsbad, N.M.; by sisters Norma Kay Elkins of Cloudcroft, N.M., and Janelle Tyson of Novice, Texas; by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one niece and six nephews.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Rifle.
