Wilson reappointed to byways commission
Former state Rep. Roger Wilson of Glenwood Springs has been reappointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper as an at-large member of the Colorado Scenic and Historic Byways Commission.
The commission works with state agencies, the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, local byways organizations, and public and private resources to help develop management plans for the state’s 26 scenic byways. The work includes the interpretation, promotion and protection of distinctive byways characteristics.
The commission also helps with the budgeting process and the allocation of federal, state and private money for byway improvement.
Originally appointed in 2011, Wilson’s new term expires Jan. 1, 2019.

Over 75,000 hikers visited Hanging Lake during this year’s peak season. Via signage, the city hopes to point more of those hikers also in the direction of downtown Glenwood Springs.
