Wine and art at Mesa Verde
CORTEZ Aug. 24-26, the Fifth Annual Mesa Verde Country Wine & Art Festival features wine tasting from Colorados finest wineries, including Cortez vintners; magnificent mesas and canyons; artists, musicians and performers, all set against the backdrop of Mesa Verde. A winemakers dinner at the Metate Room in Mesa Verde National Park one of Colorados top 10 restaurants takes place today. The Dawg Days Chili Cookoff runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cortez Cultural Center it offers awards for best chili con carne, red and green chilis and salsa.Tickets for the winemakers dinners and the festival can be purchased by calling 800-530-2998 or 970-565-8227. Wine tasting and festivities are $15 per person in advance and $20 at the gate. Combo tickets for the dinner and the festival may be purchased for $90. Staff report
