Woman’s body found on sandbar in the Eagle River

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office received a report Friday around 3 p.m. from a fisherman who saw what appeared to be a body, located on a sandbar, on the Eagle River behind the Gypsum Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Gypsum Fire Protection District and Eagle County Ambulance District recovered the body of an unidentified female.

The positive identification of the female and the cause of death will be determined by the Eagle County Coroner’s Office, according to a Sheriff’s Office statement released Friday evening.

The incident is under investigation.
