This year, KDNK’s Labor of Love Auction pays homage to Hunter S. Thompson with memorabilia his wife, Anita, donated after his death.The auction, online at http://www.kdnk.org, features memorabilia spotlighting the Gonzo journalist, as well as gift certificates, ski tickets and passes and other distinctive items.The Woody Creek community is auctioning off an evening for 18 at the Woody Creek Store, complete with Gaylord Guenin – original bartender at the Woody Creek Tavern and well-known photographer – bartending, George and Patty Stranahan and Michael and Ann Owsley providing dinner and well-known Woody Creek regulars serving. The higher the bid on the event, the more the winning bidder receives, including entertainment from Woody Creek musicians.The dinner goes on the auction block at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, when Anita Thompson and Ann Owsley will be live on the air.The KDNK Labor of Love Auction catalog is online or at coffee shops and stores throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. To receive a catalog in the mail, contact KDNK at 963-0139. The on-air portion of the auction begins Monday. KDNK, which receives support through memberships, grants, fundraising and underwriting, is on the air at 88.1, 88.3 and 88.5.
