Work begins today on Highway 82 resurfacing

On Tuesday, state highway crews started working on Highway 82, the first part of a three-month project to resurface portions of the road between Glenwood Springs and Aspen.

The initial part of the work is on sections of highway between Basalt and Aspen.

Specifically, from mile marker 23-27, an asphalt overlay will require one-lane closures in either northbound or southbound directions, between now and Oct. 31, the Colorado Department of Transportation reported on Tuesday.



Also from now through the end of October, crews will be sealing cracks from mile marker 20.5 to mile marker 37.5.

A one-mile stretch in south Glenwood Springs, between 23rd Street and the city limits, is scheduled for striping but not until September at the earliest, according to CDOT.



Traffic delays and single-lane closures can be expected from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, although such delays will be suspended from 6:30-9 a.m. for upvalley traffic, and from 3:30-6 p.m. for downvalley traffic.
