Wrong results reported from Shortcut

Donna Yost

Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter because I felt it was important to acknowledge my son publicly for his accomplishment in the Strawberry Shortcut 5K race, as all the other place winners were. The race results were erroneously reported, both in the initial announcement right after the race and then in the paper the next day. I was told that the paper would be notified to make a correction, but as of writing this letter I have not seen the correction.

Ryan Yost won first place in the 13 and under boys category. I also want to congratulate Ryan Buchanan and Jordan Chavez for their second- and third-place finishes.

I only wish there had not been such confusion resulting in the awards being handed out to the wrong individuals, and then the scrambling around trying to get it right amongst the contestants themselves. It was awkward and stressful, and doubly so when I saw the race results still had not been corrected when it was printed in the paper the next day.

It was a “scrapbook” moment that didn’t happen.
