Jesus said, “I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained. Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there.”

“Do you not see,” asks the Quran, “that everything in the heavens and all that is in the Earth pays adoration to God, as do the sun and the moon and the stars, the hills and the trees and the beasts?”

“He who experiences the unity of life sees his own self in all beings, and all beings in his own self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye,” said the Buddha.

God and human evolution are not mutually exclusive.

Regarding the Sept. 20 article, “Carbondale school cop accused of racial profiling,” I have heard first hand detailed experiences related by both students and parents regarding the mistreatment by Officer Alvaro Agon.

No one should have to go through such indignities, particularly students and certainly not at their school. The results bring only anger and fear, and feelings of mistrust in the community.

I am reminded very sadly of the cries of police brutality against black Americans in the ’60s and ’70s.

Usually the general community is not aware of the mistreatment. I know. I lived in the inner city for several years. Often the community is in denial and is hesitant to believe these things are happening.

It seems like our schools, the police, and the community have to face this unhealthy situation directly, openly and honestly. Otherwise everyone suffers.

Where does an organization that claims a police officer in the school is racial profiling have more rights than any other organization in the Roaring Fork Valley? Just because the Post Independent runs this type of story as front page news does not make it a fact.

This officer, as the school and police department have stated, is necessary. I and many other citizens of this community and this valley will stand behind this officer. Keep up the good work.

Does he need money to file a suit of defamation of character? I think that this Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition needs to be sued. We are a free country, but they are overstepping their rights.

Once again, this organization CIRC wishes to use the phrase “undocumented immigrants.” Polite way of putting it. Unfortunately Colorado is a sanctuary state and Colorado does educate everyone regardless of citizenship status.

Do Mexico and other countries south of our border do the same? If an American citizen is caught in Mexico illegally, are they then welcomed or kicked out of the country or jailed? Perhaps CIRC should rethink its status in Carbondale.
